read this just now and i find it ridiculous.
in summary, if a deceased's family members decide to donate the deceased's organs upon his death, they have to know who to call in order to make sure the vital organs are harvested before the crucial time frame passes. for example, the news reports say that ppl in johor who would like to do such thing should call the HSA at 07-225 7000
that means when you are trying to cope with losing a loved one, when you are already strong enough to make such decisions to help others, you still have to know who to call. arent these organs vital to help others? the heart, for example, how many ppl are on the waiting list to get heart transplant? this delay might have caused a life. besides that, why is it that the IJN could engage the help of the army and get helicopter to harvest a heart a week or so ago and not do the same in this case? a heart is a heart and it is a life.
some sort of centralised effort should be launched so that such tragedies do not happen again. there need to be a single phone number that should be contacted should families decide to donate their loved deceased's organs. and this centre/hospital can then follow pre-set procedures to get these organs harvested to save ppl. there need to be some kind of operating procedures because time waits for no man, especially in such situations.

That's bad.. bureaucracies on many parts. That's why our public/healthcare service has MUCH room for improvement
